USA Black Rose

ARI #:   813340

(Owned by New Horizons Suri Alpacas)

Color:    True Black       Born:  3/11/99

Black Rose( 3yrs old) as shorn with about 3" regrowth and  10 mos. pregnant

Black Rose is the ultimate collector's suri. Her black genetics combined with extremely high luster fleece, and the proven ability to produce black crias when bred to dark males makes her a prized foundation dam.  Black Rose is color of deepest midnight, so black that she almost appears to have a bluish tinge to her coloring.  Taking a photo of a true black alpaca is a challenge, because the dark color always make them appear as a shadow where the features don't show.  This true black female is the product of a true black dam, 5Peruvian Reina, and a dark silver grey male, 4Peruvian Magnifico that has sired many show-winners.  Magnifico died in 2003, so the number of daughters out of this magnificent stud are very limited!  Black Rose is tall and stretchy, with strong bone and very balanced proportions.  She carries the same upright, showy stature as Magnifico. In addition, Rose's fiber drapes and flows from her body and neck, while exhibiting high luster.  This proven dam has produced three black crias - a black male  and a bay black female, Simone, out of Alfredo de Peru (maroon), a dark silver grey male out of Silver Bullet (medium silver grey), and a true black female 2005 cria, Desiree,  from SA Peruvian Renaissance.

Black Rose's fleece is highly sought by hand spinners, and it has been sold each year before shearing. Her high luster fleece with its silky hand commands a high price. Her fleece has placed high at the largest fleece shows.

If you are looking for a proven full Peruvian black dam that produces black offspring, look no further. Black Rose's other highly sought-after traits are easy birthing, heavy milk production, and she even lets other crias nurse from her! She's a great mom. always healthy, and a proven asset to the farm.

Black Rose is re-bred to SA Peruvian Renaissancee, our bay black, award winning Peruvian herd sire with good locks and density, and lots of luster.  Her due date is June 2006, and we are expecting to see another high luster, 3rd generation black cria with typical Black Rose's showy presence from this pairing.
