Baker's Morningstar

Morningstar is a beautiful deep, dark maroon with loads of luster. At her current age of 7, she is still uniformly locked and exhibits uniformity and high luster. She sheared a 3 lb 4oz blanket in 2015, and is a solid non-hairy Grade 4 fleece, one of the most sought after grades for socks and yarns.

Her sire is Chip's Peruvian Blackmail, a true black, Black Chip son with 4P Magnifico (dark silver grey) as the grand sire, and 4P Latte (dark brown) as the grand dam. Blackmail has produced many black offspring with notable locking characteristics and high luster. He was owned by Diane Beaver of Alpaca Ventures LLC and was one of her top herd sires.

Morningstar's dam is Cantano's Calypsa, who was never shown. Calypsa is the daughter of Cantano of Peru, who Alpaca Ventures purchased for $265,000 at auction and has over 134 registered crias, many which are champions and top placements in the shows. Morningstar has produced 2 crias by Yodi's Creation: Morning's Poppie, a beige male who placed 2nd in the 2012 Best of the US Alpaca Show, and Darkstar, a bay black male who placed 4th at the 2013 OABA Alpacafest Show. Both crias have been sold. She is not currently bred, but can be bred to a Wild Rose Suri Ranch or Rainbow Mountain Alpacas herd sire for a greatly reduced fee with her purchase.
